The foreground of this garden fantasy was based on
sketches of the jumble of "cottage" plants at the front
of our house. The more ordered background is partly
fantasy - gardens are never quite that ordered are they?
My son's hand reaches in with a pair of scissors. Is this
pruning or mischief? Here is an enlarged detail:
